Would you like to take part in one of the biggest events of Hungary’s sports history?
The international sporting event of Eurogames was originally created by the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community but we welcome everyone who is tolerant, open-minded and supports regular exercise, be they athletes, volunteers or supporters. After all, our aim is to build a bridge that connects the subculture of LGBT people with the majority of society. Let us get to know each other, help understanding, acceptance and tolerance evolve by showing that in sports there is no difference between straight and LGBT athletes. This way we can highlight the degree of discrimination in our society including the world of sports.
What is the Eurogames 2012 Budapest about?
• 14 disciplines, 3800 athletes, 2200 entourage members, 4000 visitors
• 50 cultural events
• 8 highlight events
• LGBT conferences on sports, economics and equality
• European LGBT Culture Village – for building a relationship between the gay subculture and the majority of society, connecting the foreign athletes with the athletes of the host country
• The press representatives of more than 20 countries
About the organization
The chief organizers’ work (i.e. 14 chief project coordinators) is aided by a team of assistant project coordinators doing volunteer work (at this point 54 people). This team consisting mainly of sports coordinators, a communication corps, PR and marketing agents is working hard to establish the satisfactory conditions for the competition of international athletes and to recruit the sufficient number of volunteers to help out with the organization tasks.
The work of the volunteers is a vital part of the organization process and the coordination of events. In order for our volunteering members to be prepared, we hold professional training seminars for them. In exchange for their time, energy and willingness to learn, their experience will grow in new ways. It is a great opportunity for them to engage in networking, to develop their personality and to acquire new skills that could be valuable in other areas of their life. And last but not least, those who take part in the organization of these diverse events will be richer with unique experiences.
What we expect
We need your professional skills, your experience with team work, your enthusiasm and your perseverance. During the 4+1 days of Eurogames 2012, we count on your work 4-6-8 hours on a daily basis. Do not forget that volunteering during the Eurogames is serious but also fun work. If you decide to help out with the organization and the coordination, you will still have time to enjoy the various programmes.
Would you like to be part of the set-up of a large-scale international sporting event?
