Outreach

We would like to inform you that we have chosen those, who are entitled to get all the benefits of our outreach program! (registration for €25, hosted housing for 3 days for €10, etc). Every outreach applicant got an email from us last night, in which every important detail is included. Congratulations for all of you, who got outreach, and we are sorry for the those who didn't get it but don't be sad, we'd like you to join us to participate in this great event by either becoming a volunteer or entering a sport.

Dear guests of EuroGames 2012 Budapest,

The idea of the OutReach Support Program was elaborated by the Rotterdam and the Budapest EuroGames organizing team. Budapest organizers will therefore use the same system of criteria when deciding about granting outreach support.

The aim of the OutReach Support Program is to have the most effective distribution of limited resources by reaching those who need it most during a specific EuroGames (EG). It is a ‘financial +’ program: applicants who receive financial support also play a pivotal role in stimulating gay sports and creating more acceptance on local level.

This year we will have only one level of outreach . In order to receive support you need to achieve at least 6 points in the so called “OutReach matrix”. Your score is calculated with an open and transparent matrix tool: this matrix combines 4 crucial aspects, which are weighted on different scores (value 0 to 4). Please see the details for the OutReach matrix below.

Budapest organizers will grant support to all applicants, who reach at least 6 points in the matrix. Our financial resources are limited. In case of too many applicants, we will decide on a first comes first basis. Please note, that applicants from outreach countries (Central and Eastern Europe) have priority. Please note, that applicants from EGLSF member-clubs have priority. If you are a member of a club, we might contact your club for consulting in order to make sure, that you are entitled for the support. If you are not member of any sport clubs, we advice you to join one. If there is no LGBTQ sport club in your city or region, a letter of intent from an LGBTQ organization is recommended.

The deadline of OutReach Support application is Friday 30th December. We will inform all applicants by email latest on Friday 6th January. In case you are not granted the OutReach Support, you can still pay the early registration fee until Sunday 4th December.

What will you receive?
• Your registration fee will be only 25 eur
• As an athlete or visitor you will be entitled to enter all sports venues
• Free opening and closing ceremony
• Free brunch
• Warm food once a day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday
• For an additional 10 eur payment outreach guests can apply for hosted housing
• assistance dealing with the authorities in case you need a visa to Hungary

DETAILS ABOUT THE OUTREACH MATRIX

1. Gross Domestic Product with Purchasing Power Parity (GDP PPP) per capita: to have an indication of the ‘standard of living’, the national GDP PPP is measured as percentage against the European Union GDP PPP (see Appendix A for 2010 figures). The country where the applicant mainly lives in the relevant EG-year is used, not the country in a passport or (second) residence in home country.

2. Personal annual gross income/salary: indicating the ‘private consumption level’.

3. Travel distance to destination country: from origin’s airport city to the destination city.This can be calcuted via http://www.mapcrow.info/

4. Level of national LGBT rights and ‘gay acceptance’: relates to government recognition of LGBT rights. The level of acceptance is measured on 4 criteria: 

• Recognition of same-sex relationships: yes/no
• Same-sex marriage accepted: yes/no
• Same-sex adoption accepted: yes/no
• Anti-gay discrimination banned: yes/no

Each ‘no’ = one level, with a maximum of 4 levels when all the above is not applicable. Data published by ILGA (www.ilga.org) is leading: see Appendix B.
