Chess

1. The goal of the tournament

The competition is organised for amateur players regardless of their knowledge of table tennis, age, sexual orientation and gender identity. Chess is one of the most played games in the world amongst mental sports.

The tournament will be held at one venue.

4. Date of the event

29th of June (Friday) 2012

  • arrival and registration: 8:00
  • start of the tournament: 8:30
  • lunch break: 12:30-13:30
  • award winning ceremony: 19:00
  • after the event: simultaneous game

Please, be on time in the morning and during the whole day in order to avoid any inconveniences.

5. Categories

Depending on the number of registration, participants will compete in 1 or 2 groups. Male and female players will not be separated.

6. Details about the tournament

Games will be held by RAPID Chess rules of FIDE (World Chess Federation), according to the 7-round Swiss system, with the use of  chess timers.
Pairings of the rounds and summarizing the results will be carried out according to the international program Swiss Master 5.5.
Each match lasts for 2x15 minutes, with a five-minute break between the halves.
Chess will be an open singles competition, there will not be age categories. Male and female participants will play together, but they will be awarded separately.
Players owning ELO RATING, please mark at registration.
After the event, you will have the chance to play with a Hungarian chess champion. Everyone is welcome to play without stake.

7. Awards

Plaquette will be given to the first 6 male and female players. The first, second and third best will be awarded with medals. The best competitor from all will win the cup.
The award winning ceremony will be held after the final.

8. Registration

You can apply for the competition on the web site. Personally in Budapest on the 28th of June at the registration points.

  • All participants have to register through the central registration system on the EuroGames 2012 homepage.
  • All participants have to register personally on 28th June (Thursday) at the central EuroGames registration point.
  • All participants have to register at the venue on the day of the competition at least 90 minutes before the start.

9. Results

The results will be published during the tournament on a board.
The award winning ceremony will take place after the finals, at 19:00.
The results will also be published on EuroGames Budapest webpage a few days latest after the EuroGames (name, event, category, place).

10. Other

  • All participants participate at the tournament at their own risk! Sport-medical licence is not required, completion of the registration means that the participant is in proper health condition to take part in the event.
  • Purchase of insurance for the competition is highly recommended!
  • The organisers are not responsible for the belongings of the competitors left at the venue, but values deposit is provided.
  • Organisers hold the right for changing the program in case of unforeseen circumstances.
  • Handicapped participants are welcome in the competition as well!
  • According to RAPID Chess rules of FIDE the use of mobile phones at the venue is strictly forbidden! In case of mobile phone ringing the owner loses the ongoing match immediately.
  • Participants arriving after the starting of the chess timers lose the forst round, therefore should they be on time.
