Handball

1. Goal of the tournament

Our goal is to provide amateur players the possibility of playing handball regardless of experience, age, sex, sexual orientation and identity. Handball has always been one of the most popular sports of EuroGames; you will not be disappointed this time, either!

2. Location of the tournament

The two-day tournament will be held in a sport hall near the center of Budapest.

4. Schedule

29-30 June 2012 (Friday and Saturday)

  • 8:30 a.m.   - arrival and final checkup
  • 8:30-8:45 a.m.  - technical opening speeches
  • 9 a.m.    - start of the tournament
  • 7:30 p. m.   - estimated finishing time of the tournament days

Please show up on time in the morning and do your best to keep the schedule!

5. Categories

Male and female.
There will be no levels.
The organizers reserve the right to create a mixed team from individual participants!

6. Execution

Women’s tournament:
Four teams may register. All four teams will play 2x15 minutes games against all other teams. The final game and the game for the bronze medal will be 2x20 minutes long. The medal ceremony will be held after the male tournament on Saturday evening in the sport hall.

Men’s tournament:
Eight teams may register. First the games will be played in two groups of four teams each. After the qualification tournament the first two teams from both groups will qualify themselves to the final four teams, where all teams will play against all the other teams. The first two teams will play the final, while the third and fourth teams will play for the bronze medal.
The medal ceremony will be held right after the final game.

7. Awards

Medal ceremony. Medals will be given to the first, second and third teams. The others will receive certificates. The winner teams will receive Adidas handballs (one for each team), while the second and third teams will receive Hungarian wines. The other teams will get sweets and certificates.

8. Registration and entering the tournament

The captains are allowed to register their teams.
1. Registration is possible through the website of the tournament. In case you check the “individual player” option, we will create a female and male mixed team in case of sufficient participants.
2. A personal registration is necessary in Budapest on 28 June at the registration point. The captains are allowed to register the whole team.
3. Registration at the venue at least 60 minutes before the start of the games.

9. Results

The results will be published during the tournament on a board and on the website of the event as well.

10. Other

  • All participants shall take responsibility for their own health and safety; sports doctor’s certificate is not required; registration serves as to acknowledge that the participants’ state of health is suitable for entering the competition. First aid will be available on-site. Warm-up is obligatory!
  • Showers, food and drinks will be available at the location of the tournament. We provide separate changing rooms to all teams!
  • All players participate at the tournament in their own outfit. Players and spectators are only allowed to enter the court in clean sport shoes.
  • We take no responsibility for property left in the changing rooms and/or tournament hall.
  • Depository will be available.
  • The organizers reserve the right to change the conditions in case of unexpected circumstances.
