Hiking

1. The goal of the event

The hiking event is organized for professional and amateur hikers regardless of their experience in hiking, age, sexual orientation and gender identity. The event is planned for only 45 participants, so early registration is recommended!

2. Location of the tournament

The hiking will take you to the beautiful nature in the Danube Bend area, north from Budapest.

4. Date of the event

29th of June, 2012 (Friday)

  • arrival and registration: 8:00-8:30am
  • departure of the boat: 8:30am
  • start of hiking: 9:30am
  • the end of the tournament depends on the length of the hike you choose
  • arrival of the boat: 20:00pm

5. Categories

All hikers start from the same place together, but participants can stop the tour at two spots. Therefore, there are 3 tracks with different length and levels:
1. 10 km long with 300 m height difference
2. 18,5 km long with 650 m height difference
3. 23,4 km long with 925 m height difference

6. Details about the tournament

The program starts early in the morning with a boat trip from Budapest to the beautiful Danube Bend area. All hikers start walking together and have the chance to decide to stop hiking at two different locations. There is a possibility to travel back to Budapest from all three ending points. During the tour Renaissance relics, gastronomic wonders, beautiful landscapes, forests, fields, cliffs and gorges are awaiting for the hikers.

7. Medals

All hikers will receive a certificate according to the length and level they were able to hike.

8. Registration

1. All hikers have to register through the central registration system on the EuroGames 2012 homepage.
2. All hikers have to register on the 28th of June (Thursday) at the central EuroGames registration center.
3. All hikers have to register on the 29th of June (Friday) morning before the boat trip.

9. Results

The results will be published at the ending points during the hike and on the internet site of the event a few days latest after the EuroGames. Certificates will be given away at the boat trip back to Budapest, this is considered as the official announcement of the results.

10. Important information

1. All hikers participate at the tournament on their own risk!
2. There will be first aid during the event.
3. The organizers are not responsible for the belongings of the hikers at any location during the event!
4. Purchase of insurance for the weekend is highly recommended!
5. All hikers have to make sure to have their own proper equipments for the hike: appropriate trekking shoes, clothing, equipments against rain and sun, water etc.
6. All participants will receive a small package of food and there will be restaurants at the rest points of the hike to buy more to eat and drink.

The organizers have the right to make changes in the planned program above.
