Table tennis

1. The goal of the competition

The competition is organised for amateur athletes regardless of their knowledge of table tennis, age, sexual orientation and gender identity.

2. The location of the competition

The event will be organized at one venue. The Qualifying matches will be held on several tables, while the finals on the center one.

4. Date of the event

30th June 2012 (Saturday)

  • Arrival and registration:  until 8:30
  • Opening and technical speeches: 8:30 – 8:45
  • start of the competition: 9:00
  • Scheduled end of the competition: 18:00
  • Award winning ceremony: 18:30 (at the venue)
  • Lunch break: individually, according to the schedule of play

5. Categories

  • Women’s singles
  • Women’s doubles
  • Men’s singles
  • Men’s doubles
  • Mixed doubles

The organisers hold the right to create or divide groups and levels depending on the number and knowledge of participants.
Doubles with participants of different levels can enter the higher participant level.
One participant can enter in more than one event (i.e.  women’s singles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles).
Each event will be organized only if there are minimum 3 registered players.

6. Details about the tournament

Within each event, participants will be divided into two or more groups (depending on the number of participants). Within the groups every singles or doubles players play with each other. The ranks will be decided according to the number of matches won. The result between the players is the next rakning aspect in case they won the same number of matches. Then, the number of sets won.
The semi finals will be played between the first player of one group and the second player of the other group. The winners of the semi finals will play the finals, while the losers the bronze matches. Each match continues until  3 won sets. One set ends  after 11 won points, but there must be at least 2 points between the players.  In the case of 11-10 the match continues until one of party wins with 2 points. Each player serves twice. A one-minute timeout is allowed for each player once in every match.

In all other cases, the international rules and regulations of table tennis are the standard.

7. Awards

Medals will be given to the first, second and third best in each categories.
The award winning ceremony will take place after the finals.

8. Registration

  • All athletes have to register through the central registration system on the EuroGames 2012 homepage. In case you mark „i am looking for a partner” option we will do our best to find you a suitable partner for the doubles.
  • All athletes have to register personally on 29th of June (Friday) at the central EuroGames registration.
  • All athletes have to register at the venue on the day of the competition at least 60 minutes before the start of each category, so that the the draw can be done according to the players shown up.

9. Results

The results will be published during the tournament on a board.
The award winning ceremony will take place after the finals, at 18:30.
The results will also be published on the internet site of the competition a few days latest after the EuroGames.

10. Other

  • All athletes participate at the tournament on their own risk! Sport-medical licence is not required, completing the registration means that the participant is in proper health condition to take part in the event.
  • There will be first aid during the competition.
  • Purchase of insurance for the competition is highly recommended!
